Drs
Huddleston, Debenham, Western & Day The surgery is open 8.30 a.m. - 1.00 p.m. and 2.00 p.m. - 6.30 p.m. Monday to Friday except for Bank Holidays. Those who are very observant will notice the year 1905 built into the bricks of the chimney of Granton Medical Centre. In that year Kings Norton was semi-rural but developing into the suburb we know today. Dr Jordan built his house 'Granton' in fine style. At the North end were servants' quarters and the back stairs. In the garden was the coach house, now extended into a family home. In those days the surgery was represented by a minuscule waiting room - now the practice manager's office. The consultation room adjoined this. Over the past hundred-odd years the practice has slowly and steadily expanded but the priority has always been to provide traditional family doctoring. Dr Jordan was followed by Dr O'Brien. Dr Gray joined as a second partner and Dr Cull joined on his demob from the army. Gradually the practice expanded to the present four partners supported by a practice manager and administration staff. The service
we offer to patients is now extensive but hopefully, along with all our computer
technology, the friendly face is still there to help. After all, traditional values
have to find a place in modern, scientific medicine. We look forward to the future
with an increased emphasis on teaching the next generation to follow similar precepts.
To this end we have been training Birmingham Medical School Students for the last
ten years.
